Sheffield Wednesday made it a wretched evening all round for Albion by thrashing poor Coventry City 5-1 at Hillsborough last night.
The result keeps Wednesday in the drop zone but they are now level on points with the Seagulls.
They have also made a dent in Albion's advantage over them in the goal difference column.
Wednesday's four-goal winning margin last night takes them to minus 22, just one goal behind Albion. The Owls have scored two more than their Sussex rivals.
Hillsborough boss Chris Turner believes his side can get the points they need to stay up in front of their home fans.
He said: "It is a good boost for the home games because we've got five left and we need to try and win them all."
