Lewes ended their dismal run in division one south with an edgy 1-0 win at home to Epsom & Ewell.
The Rooks had a goal disallowed after three minutes for offside when Julian Curnow scored following an initial block by Epsom goalkeeper Dave Hyatt from a long-range effort.
The visitors had their best effort of the first half on nine minutes when Barry Stevens jinxed his way into the area but then shot wide with only Russell Tanner to beat.
After some good pressure, Lewes deservedly scored in the 18th minute when a free kick by Danny Davis evaded everyone in the crowded penalty area and drifted into the far corner.
Helped by the strong wind, Lewes had the majority of possession in the second half but Epsom caused concern for the home supporters on 60 minutes when Tanner had to quickly re-adjust and fist Graham Morris's cross-shot off the line.
Ten minutes from time, Lewes were unlucky not to double their lead when Lee Newman's cross was stabbed against the post by Nigel Bennett.
