A Sussex schoolgirl who has become a mother at the age of 13 has told how she became pregnant after her one and only sexual experience.

Amy Crowhurst has only just turned 13 but she has already been plunged into a demanding role as a single mum to Alfie, who was born on March 2.

The teenager, from Crawley, is bringing him up at the six-bedroom council house she shares with her mother Rose and five brothers.

Amy became pregnant at 12 after a brief encounter with a 15-year-old she barely knew.

Amy said: "Obviously I have regrets and I'm worried about being so young but at the end of the day I have a beautiful baby and I can't regret that.

"All I'd say to other girls like me is take more care than I did. I'm fine now but I don't know how I'll feel when my friends are older and going out at night and I have to stay in and look after Alfie."

Amy told Closer magazine: "I knew I would love him straight away but I was surprised how strongly I felt."
