A police sergeant has scooped a top award for leadership.
Sgt Tony Lumb received the West Sussex High Sheriff's Award at a ceremony at Slaugham Manor, last night.
The officer heads a team of beat officers working in the East Brighton area of the city and is being hailed for helping to change the relationship between the police and the communities on estates previously blighted by crime.
In recognition of Sgt Lumb's work, Mark Burrell, the High Sheriff of West Sussex, presented him with an award which is given to officers who have made an outstanding contribution to policing in Sussex.
Sgt Lumb said: "It's a great honour to be given this award but it's a tribute not just to me, it's about the team."
