I appreciate the closure of Richmond Road, Brighton, at the left turn from Mayo Road is to curtail traffic problems but it does not seem adequately thought out.
If a resident requires access by car to Upper Lewes Road, the shortest access is via Wakefield Road and a dangerous corner on which a left turn is particularly hazardous.
There is already a substantial building on the corner of Richmond Road and D'Aubigny Road which is used as business premises.
Its only vehicular access is via D'Aubigny Road, which is narrow and accessed by a junction unsuitable for large vehicles. Should a delivery need to be made by a large vehicle, the road layout could now make this impossible.
Traffic problems might be alleviated and the risk of accidents at the bottom of Wakefield Road avoided by making Wakefield Road one-way from Upper Lewes Road to Princes Crescent, in that direction, and Richmond Road one-way in the direction from Princes Crescent to D'Aubigny Road.
This would also maintain better access for large vehicles.
