Their incantations give way to a surge of action as soldiers take to the stage.

This breathless pace continues throughout with one scene overlapping another.

By giving the play a modern setting the director reminds us this familiar story of the corrupting effect of ambition is as pertinent today as it was when written.

In the title role, Andy Costello conveys well the torment between conscience and ambition that gives way to ruthlessness.
