A remand prisoner has died after being found hanging by his shoe laces in his cell.
Nicholas Graham, from Eastbourne, was discovered by staff at Dorchester prison in Dorset on March 1, the Home Office said last night.
Warders tried to resuscitate Mr Graham, who was on remand for theft and breach of bail and alone in the double cell at the time.
Paramedics were called and they took him to hospital where died 12 days later on Thursday night .
The coroner has been notified and an inquest will be held.
A Prison Service investigation will also be carried out by a governor from another prison.
