The Dedication Orchestra brings together the most magnificent British jazz performers from the past three decades.
The impetus behind it is South African drummer, Louis Moholo, who worked in the Sixties with key players Dudu Pukwana, Johnny Dyani, Mongezi Feza, Harry Miller, Nick Moyaka and Chris McGregor.
Their band, the Blue Notes, often fell foul of segregation laws and further indignities but their eventual move to London added a vital presence to the jazz scene.
Louis formed the band to commemorate his departed bandmates, finding the cream of the UK scene eager to contribute.
Conducted by Steve Beresford, the orchestra has a great champion in prog-rock musician Robert Wyatt, who says of them:
"I thought my heart would burst with gratitude for the comprehensive generosity of it."
