Albion have uncovered no evidence to suggest referee Phil Prosser was racially abused by fans at the end of the match against Sheffield United at Withdean in October.
But the club has admitted objects were thrown by spectators in the South Stand.
The FA are still investigating Prosser's claim that both he and Sheffield United winger Peter Ndlovu were racially abused following Albion's stormy 4-2 defeat in Steve Coppell's first match in charge.
Fans were incensed after Prosser awarded the Blades two late penalties.
Hundreds left their seats in the South Stand to protest. They had to be held back by police and stewards.
Albion's chief executive Martin Perry revealed: "The report we put in to the FA showed absolutely clearly there was no evidence to support any racist chanting or abuse.
"The FA came back to us and they are waiting for a further comment from us, but our evidence is exactly the same.
"Some objects were thrown, we have admitted that, but that was it.
"Although he (Prosser) made the accusation, there has been no confirmation from anywhere else."
The Argus has been in regular contact with the FA since the incident, only to be told the investigation is ongoing. Our latest call was not returned.
Five months is surely long enough for the governing body to make a decision.
