Worthing secured their eighth victory of the season in the Kent/Sussex Regional League with a 4-1 win at home to Blackheath despite playing with ten men for the first 25 minutes.
They had already been hit by the late withdrawals of skipper David Edmondson (flu) and Mark Minchell (back injury) when news came through that Dan Lock had locked himself out of his house with all his equipment still inside.
Minchell, who came along to watch, was persuaded to join the action just before half-time and he was replaced in the second half by Lock, who was sporting some borrowed gear.
Goals from Mark Duncan and Matt Ansell had put Worthing in command by the time Minchell joined the action and James Godber made it 3-0 early in the second half. Blackheath pulled one back but John Massie wrapped up victory with a fourth goal.
Mid Sussex conceded a two-goal lead to lose 5-2 away to runners-up Tunbridge Wells. Luke Hurle scored two cracking goals but the hosts hit back to take victory.
