A six-month ban has been placed on teenage parties after violence broke out at a community centre.
Rustington Parish Council imposed the ban after police came under attack by drunken youngsters who tried to gatecrash a party.
Numerous arrests were made when officers confronted the gang outside the village memorial hall at the Woodlands Centre during a 16th birthday party.
A report to the parish council stated: "The police attended in force and faced an angry group of approximately 30 youths who were physically and verbally abusive.
"There followed approximately 11 arrests within the parish.
"It was evident that many of the youths had been attempting to gatecrash the party at the Woodlands Centre, causing much distress to the hirer.
"Damage had also been caused to the external fire exit door on the eastern side of the centre on the same evening.
"This was the latest in a series of disturbances during teenage parties and similar functions and a number of representations have been received from residents expressing their concerns regarding these disturbances and requesting the council to take some action in an attempt to avoid a recurrence."
Following a detailed discussion, the council agreed to the ban. A working party has been set up to investigate further before permanent action is taken.
Meanwhile, the council has accepted a tender of £405,427 from Bognor firm E A Chiverton for a new youth and community building in the parish.
Five tenders were received and the lowest was chosen. The highest was £479,554.
