Two men have been arrested after an attempt to steal foreign currency at Gatwick Airport today.
The currency, thought to be euros and dollars, arrived in the country on an inbound flight yesterday.
Two men, posing as security guards, drove a vehicle converted to look like a security van into the cargo area at about 3am.
The value of the currency is estimated at hundreds of thousands of pounds.
Detective Chief Inspector Jim Dickie, of Scotland Yard, said: "This was an audacious attempted robbery of foreign currency bound for London banks."
Two men have been arrested and are being questioned at Harrow police station.
