Hampshire stars Steve Walkling and Simon Berogna were clear winners of the Sussex CA 27-mile two-up team time trial.
They have been runners-up in the past two years but made no mistake this time over a tough West Sussex course that included Houghton Hill.
The Velo Club St Raphael pair recorded 1hr.0min.29sec while Sussex riders Andy Payne and Steve Woodbridge (GS Stella) finished second in 1hr.3min.19sec.
London riders Richard Payn and Keith Reed (34th Nomads) were third in 1hr.4min.33sec.
Fourth place went to Nigel and Steve Morgan (Tooting BC) in 1hr.4min.42sec, while fifth fastest were Steve Frame and Alan Rolfe (Eastbourne Rovers) in 1hr.5min.5sec.
Although the club team of Walkling and Italian-born Berogna won the top prize, the fastest time was set by Storrington rider Mark Jones (GS Stella) and Mark Sinnott (Epsom CC).
They were the only team to beat the hour, recording 59min.54sec. They won the contest for composite teams from different clubs.
Jones said: "We are pleased to have set the fastest time. There was some doubt about Mark's fitness as he has been unwell recently but he rode really well and didn't miss any turns at the front."
The all-Sussex composite team of Steve Geran (VC Bayeux) were riding strongly until Limpus punctured.
The male-female team prize went to Peter Baker and Janet Homewood, of Lewes Wanderers, who recorded 1hr.11min.53sec.
Susan Uncles (Worthing Excelsior) and Niki Treacy (VC Bayeux) were the top women's team in 1hr.18min.51sec. Hassocks veteran Rik Taub (In Gear) finished 23rd in the 36-mile Fareham Wheelers road race at Meonstoke.
Brighton Mitre's Robin Johnson is promoting the Southern Counties ten-mile time trial at Oakwoodhill on Saturday (2pm) and the 25-mile event at Loxwood on Sunday (9am).
Mark Jones heads the Sussex challenge in which Paul Pickup (Liphook Cycles) is favourite.
Johnson also faces a busy Easter weekend. He is promoting two open events for the Mitre, a ten-mile time trial at Kirdford on Easter Saturday and a hilly 25-mile trial in the Devils Dyke area on Easter Monday.
