Paul Young fired a super goal for Sussex but they were left seething by an equaliser they claimed was offside.
Young struck from 25 yards in last night's 1-1 Championship draw with Dorset at Wimborne.
That looked to be enough until Christian Rigler followed up a mis-hit Darren Lawrence shot with both players seeming to be offside.
Sussex boss John Suter said: "We made him three yards offside when he scored.
"It was disappointing. We deserved to win but you have got to put your chances away.
Sussex defenders Mark Burt, Paul Williams and Damian Webber, with a combined aged of 102, were rock solid.
At the other end, Sussex had plenty of openings but had to wait until the 65th minute to go ahead.
Brighton Charity Cup, 2nd round: Mile Oak 1 (Roberts 60), Shoreham 2 (Shepherd pen 30, Martin 97) aet.
