A sick thief in Peacehaven has made off with flowers placed at the town's war memorial.
Town councillor Reigna Mitchell and her husband Arthur left the flowers in memory of a family friend who had been killed in Iraq.
It was obvious the flowers had been deliberately placed at the site as a tribute by people who cared.
They were in a vase and were accompanied by a card, which said the flowers were in memory of troops who would not be coming home again.
Whatever people think of the war, they should have respect for the men and women who are fighting and risking their lives in the Gulf.
But it is far more likely the flowers were taken by a petty thief than by an anti-war protester.
