I read the article on the suspension of Steve White with great interest (The Argus, April 3). I recently had "dealings" with Cityclean about the appalling record of rubbish collection from my building.
Having got absolutely nowhere with the general team at Cityclean's offices, I tried unsuccessfully to contact Mr White on seven occasions before resorting to calling the office of Jenny Rowlands, environment director of Brighton and Hove City Council.
The problem was eventually sorted out by the brilliant Trish Newbury, Jenny Rowlands' PA.
Perhaps this suspension was a result of Cityclean's continuing incompetence in looking after the rubbish collection contract for the city? It certainly should not take the director of environmental services to get involved in sorting out day-to-day duties of this company.
Mr White never did return any of my calls. Perhaps he simply forgot that I and the other occupiers of The Deco Building, in essence, pay his wages.
