As a pensioner and having just received my council tax bill, I must ask is it legal to make us pay this much money each month?
When I had my mortgage, I was not allowed to borrow more than I earned in a week to repay a monthly mortgage.
Now, my weekly state pension is lower than my council tax bill.
On reflection, I wonder if people who live in debt, living for today and not tomorrow, have the right idea.
We seem to be being punished for having been thrifty in our younger life. We are now forced to live with an expenditure situation we were once protected from.
Do our fellow mainland European pensioners have the same problems?
