A conman who looks like Coronation Street butcher Ashley Peacock is preying on unsuspecting elderly people in Sussex.
He tricked his way into several homes by pretending he was injured or ill and then stole cash and other valuables.
Police believe he is behind at least five incidents in the Southwick and Hove areas during the past week.
They also fear he has struck in other parts of the county.
The suspect called at three homes in Southwick and convinced the elderly occupants he was injured.
He told the victims he had called an ambulance and asked if he could wait inside until it arrived.
Once inside, he asked for a drink of water and when the householders went to get a glass, he stole cash, jewellery and ornaments before running off.
In one case, he told an elderly victim he needed to change the bandage on his injured hand.
Adur police believe the same man tried to trick his way into two more homes in the area on Saturday but was refused entry.
The latest incident happened on Tuesday, when the suspect tricked his way into the home of an elderly woman in Goldstone Crescent, Hove.
He pretended he was having an asthma attack and asked to be let in to recover. Once she left the room the suspect stole her handbag containing cash.
Inspector Beryl Bacon said: "The suspect is described as looking like Ashley from Coronation Street. We would like to hear from anyone who has been approached by him."
