Debut man Glenn Burtenshaw was vying for honours in the Rookie Class of the Corgi Legends Cars championship at Mallory Park.

The 37-year-old Forest Row racer proved that he is equally adept in race cars as in karts by storming to third place in class in his first ever circuit race meeting.

There was a strong Sussex contingent at the meeting with Worthing's Daren Hills, a late entrant, and Nigel Kelsey (Crawley) also in action.

Hills has been out of action for two years but he was soon back into his rhythm and a superb seventh place in the third race made his final points tally respectable.

Kelsey put in some gritty drives throughout the afternoon and wound up tenth ahead of some of last year's front runners.
