Landlord John Gander took on no ordinary pub when he started to run The Greyhound in Tinsley Green, near Crawley, earlier this year.
It was a condition of purchase that the British and World Marbles Championships should continue there every year.
These championships are a typical example of English eccentricity but they are a Tinsley Green tradition that is good for tourism.
Hundreds of people will attend and there will be worldwide publicity for a tiny place that will never lose its marbles.
