Burgess Hill have taken a step closer to Dr Martens League football after Leylands Park was passed by ground inspectors.
The Hillians were informed this week they had been awarded a B grading for their ground which is good enough to get promotion.
Whether they go up depends on the number of teams applying to get into the league but priority is given to league champions, which is good news for Burgess Hill.
There are eight leagues which feed the Dr Martens and four possible promotion places.
Club director Gary Croydon said: "We have got a B grading which is good enough for the Southern League.
"I expect it to be ratified at a meeting of the league on May 8."
