Students who set up their own companies have scooped a top business award.
The young entrepreneurs from Steyning Grammar School, supported by Southern Water in the Young Enterprise Programme, created a company called Steyning Reds.
They organised a James Bond theme cocktail party and were presented with the award for best product/service at a ceremony in Worthing by Stuart Derwent, managing director of the Sussex-based water company.
Pupils from St Andrew's High School were placed third in the best overall company category for their St Andy's Candy sweet shop.
The Southern Water sponsored best business plan award was presented to students from Durrington High School who created the Cheesy Peas Industry.
David Coleshill, Southern Water asset investment manager, who was one of three judges, said: "It was a privilege to be invited to judge on the night and have the chance to put something back into the community."
The Young Enterprise organisation programmes give young people hands-on experience at setting up and running a company as well as an opportunity to work with business advisers.
The winners of the best company, web site and report award, Indigofa from Lancing College, will represent the South Downs area at the Sussex finals on May 21 at Brighton racecourse.
