Bognor hot-shot Matt Russell has warned his team mates not to be complacent ahead of their crucial derby at Worthing today.
The Rocks could be promoted from Ryman Division One South if they pick up three points and both Dulwich and Lewes fail to win their respective games.
Russell scored his 34th goal of the season on Saturday as Bognor swept aside Tooting with ease on Saturday to maintain their three point lead above Carshalton at the top of the table.
But the Rocks' top scorer believes it will be a different proposition against 14th placed Worthing, who have only lost two games in their last 11, a run which included a 2-0 win over second-placed Carshalton.
He said: "We definitely can't be complacent about Worthing because it's always hard against them and they will be looking to put one over on us.
"They are better than their league position suggests and I think since we played them they have only lost a couple of games.
"They did us a big favour against Carshalton but there is no way they will do us a favour when we play them, it will be very tough."
Even if Bognor do not gain promotion against Barry Lloyd's Rebels, they will have the perfect chance when they face fellow promotion- chasers Lewes in the penultimate game of the season at Nyewood Lane on Saturday.
Russell is trying to keep promotion out of his mind and suggests the rest of his team mates do the same.
He said: "It's important not to look beyond the next match or think about promotion because you can get carried away and it could still all go wrong.
If we look too much ahead then that is how we could slip up, so we have to focus on the Worthing game and try to get a result."
Bognor will travel to Woodside Road full of confidence after making easy work of mid-table Tooting.
The visitors had beaten Rocks 4-0 earlier in the season, but it took just two minutes for Russell to rule out any chance of a repeat performance.
Richard Hudson ended a great run down the right flank with a shot which was parried by visiting keeper Tony Webb into the path of Russell who finished from close range.
Tooting struggled with the windy conditions and rarely threatened, but the home side had to wait until the 58th minute to double their lead when Kevin Murphy headed home at the back post from David Birmingham's corner.
The points were sealed ten minutes later when Michael Birmingham converted a penalty after Tooting captain Steve Symes had been sent off for a head-butt on Lee Stevens.
Stevens put the performance down to team spirit, but was also quick to praise the part played by the majority of the 408 supporters, one of Bognor's highest attendances of the season.
He said: "Confidence is so high at the moment and the spirit in the team is absolutely brilliant. It's hard not to have that confidence when you have support like we've got and that is one of the reasons why we are in this position.
"They have been brilliant all season and follow us everywhere. They definitely deserve promotion because they have waited long enough and it is time we gave something back."
The win was made sweeter with the news that promotion rivals Dulwich had lost 3-1 at Leatherhead, while Lewes could only draw 2-2 at Croydon Athletic.
Rocks' manager Jack Pearce knows promotion is in touching distance and is hoping his side can repeat their demolition of Tooting against Worthing.
He said: "I was very pleased with the performance because we were playing against a team with one of the best away records in the league who had beaten Chertsey 7-0 on Tuesday. We must have done something right to reduce them to no chances at all.
"This was a big game for us psychologically and the other results have gone for us so it has helped us, but we know we can't take our foot off the pedal yet.
"We have got to go and get a good result against Worthing who are going well at the moment and if we do that then we will be almost there."
Lewes are also involved in derby action today when they entertain Horsham before they face Worthing, also at home, on Wednesday.
