The saga surrounding comic legend Spike Milligan's unmarked grave in rural East Sussex has taken another twist.
Two weeks ago his son James and his mother placed an 18in angel on a plinth as a temporary headstone at St Thomas's Church in Winchelsea, near Rye.
But it was replaced with a small wooden cross bearing the word Spike.
Now that has been removed and the angel replaced.
A wicker basket of fresh plants had joined three pots of wilting flowers on the grave.
On the basket is a card that reads: "Happy Easter, Dad.
"Lots of love from your children Laura, Sean, Sile, Jane and Grandchildren."
Reports suggest a family feud over Milligan's estate has prevented a proper headstone being erected, more than a year after the comic's death at 83.
Milligan, who spent his later years living in Udimore, between Hastings and Rye, was the founder member and creative force behind The Goons.
