I am glad to see officialdom taking note of complaints about the new trains' humungous horns (The Argus, April 17).

The first time I heard one, it took me unawares, with my back to it on the platform. It was like a blow to the head and my ears hurt for ages afterwards.

Now, I skulk in the waiting room when one of the beasts is near.

There can be no need for this aggressive honking. The old two-tone peeps were good enough for decades.

So come on, The Argus, let's give the hoot the boot.
