What an interesting but sad story about the closure of Wilson's family laundry in Kemp Town, Brighton, showing the last two brothers, Christopher and Timothy (The Argus, April 5).
I remember the Wilsons particularly well.
We moved down from Clapton, in east London, in 1934 to take on a hotel in Charlotte Street, next to what was the Crest (now the Lanes) until just after the Second World War broke out in 1939.
We used the services of Wilson's Laundry for all our sheets, pillowcases and table linen for five years.
My parents became great friends of Mrs Wilson, as did many other of her customers in that day.
One day in the late Thirties, we were invited along to Arundel Road to see how it was all done.
It seemed very hot and steamy in there to an 11-year-old. It has always stuck in my head, especially when driving past the old building in the years since.
I would like to wish the two gentlemen all the best for their retirement and good health.
I hope they will see this letter and maybe even contact me some time.
