Andrew Rough (Letters, March 1) and Sarah Walker (Letters, April 4) mentioned the Walking Man.
My son and I have often talked of this mysterious man who we both see from time to time, in all different locations, some near, some far.
We don't call him the walking man. We call him the Hood Man. Recently, I was driving down Ditchling Road, Brighton, when I spotted him again.
Immediately, I drove home as fast as I dared to get my camera, hoping I could find him on my return, which I did, fortunately.
He was still plodding down Ditchling Road with stick in hand. I managed to get some hurried pictures but, unfortunately, the close-up did not come out too well because I was a bit apprehensive. Who knows? - he could give me a whack with his stick.
I tried to get a look at his face as I was within touching distance. Alas, it was not possible.
He ties a grey scarf round his hood and over his face and wears dark glasses so you cannot even see his eyes.
The Hood Man dresses like this in every kind of weather, even in mid-summer. He must be baking, because these clothes remind me of what Scott of the Antarctic would have worn - in fact, that is who he looks like.
We should carry on investigating this chap and try to find out more. When I see him again, I may even say good morning to see if I get a response.
Just one more thing - did they ever find Lord Lucan?
