Hastings United were relegated from the premier division after they could only manage a 1-1 draw away to Weymouth.
Hastings needed to win and hope other results went their way to take their survival bid to the final weekend of the season, but Hinckley United's 2-0 success at Tiverton meant George Wakeling's team dropped down after just one season in the top flight.
The visitors made a bright start and Nick Hegley failed to make the most of an opening, volleying wildly past the angle after being picked out by Steve Yates.
Weymouth, who needed a point to avoid relegation themselves, quickly built up a head of steam and opened the scoring on 23 minutes when Steve Tully scored from a free kick which went through the seven-man wall.
The home side had chances to kill off their opponents early in the second half but either their own poor finishing or the reflexes of keeper Dave King kept Hastings in the game.
At the other end, Yates was denied by a good save from Jason Matthews and Landry Zahana-Oni failed to connect properly from six yards out.
Hastings equalised a minute from the end of normal time when substitute Chris Honey picked out Hegley who scored with a powerful header.
