A Sussex charity will benefit when former Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley straps on his backpack for a trek in Peru next year.
Proceeds from the trip will go to Horsham-based medical charity Action Research.
The Eighties pop idol will trek to Machu Picchu via several high-altitude mountain passes and thousands of gruelling ancient steps.
He will be trekking for six to eight hours a day and will sleep under canvas.
Tony said: "I'm trekking to Peru with Action Research to raise money for an excellent cause and as a personal challenge.
"The charity has made some amazing breakthroughs, which have improved the health of millions of people in the UK."
Action Research's work has been crucial in developing life-saving treatments, including the polio vaccine, ultrasound scanning in pregnancy and the use of folic acid to prevent Spina bifida.
There are still spaces available for the trip. Call 01732 744031 or log on to www.actionresearch.org.uk
