Crawley Town won the Dr Martens Cup for the first time last night after beating Halesowen 2-0 in the second leg of the final at the Broadfield Stadium.
There were wild celebrations as Reds overturned a 2-1 defeat in the first leg to claim a 3-2 aggregate win thanks to goals from Nigel Brake and Nic McDonnell.
Crawley had beaten Sittingbourne, Hastings, Ashford, Burnham and King's Lynn to reach the final. They had to be reinstated in the competition at the quarter-final stage despite losing 2-1 to Chelmsford City because the Essex side had fielded an unregistered player.
Manager Francis Vines, who has only been in charge for four months, was delighted his side took advantage of their second chance.
He said "I am so pleased for everybody. I am happy, the board are happy and the supporters are happy, so it was a perfect night for the football club.
"We produced a good performance as well which is very important and we thoroughly deserved to win.
"It is the biggest competition this club has ever won and I am delighted and honoured to have been involved in it."
