I am a single mum of a three-year-old boy. I live in private rented accommodation.
My rent has just increased and housing benefit will not pay the full amount because the rent is too high.
This leaves a shortfall of £34 a week, which I am expected to pay out of my income support.
On top of this my landlord will now have to take me to court to evict me, the cost of which (£180) I am liable for before I can make a homeless application.
This could take weeks.
So, I am in limbo, facing the prospect of having a court judgment made against me, losing my home, facing hundreds of pounds in arrears and court costs to pay, when none of this is my fault.
I am on medication from my doctor because of stress and my little boy is wondering what on Earth is going on and where is he going to sleep.
I wondered if anybody is in a similar situation to me, struggling to make ends meet and being put severely in debt by the council.
I am not a trouble maker, I'm just someone who wants somewhere for my son to have a stable home and a mum who is not a nervous wreck and for me to be able to feed him without large debts hanging over my head.
Any ideas?
