A mother and her son admitted conspiring to supply heroin to a prisoner in jail yesterday.
Christine Meaden, 54, and her son Thomas Meaden both pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court to conspiring to supply the class A drug between November 29 and December 12 last year.
Christine Meaden, of Washington Road, Haywards Heath, who was arrested after police intercepted a parcel on its way to Lewes Prison, also admitted possession of 14g of diamorphine between the same dates but denied a further charge of possessing 206mg of the Class A drug.
The prosecution offered no evidence on the last charge.
Thomas Meaden, who is on remand at Lewes Prison admitted possessing 14g of diamorphine and 206mg of the drug.
He also admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm, carrying a bread knife in Haywards Heath, two further counts of possessing heroin and two counts of possessing cannabis resin as well as one count of producing cannabis plants between November 23 and December 10 last year.
The case was adjourned to June 6 for pre-sentence reports. Christine Meaden was given unconditional bail and Thomas Meaden was remanded in custody.
