Town centre managers are conducting a survey into a new market that stretches the length of Montague Street, Worthing, every Wednesday.
There has been concern that the market stalls look shabby and Worthing Town Centre Initiative, which organised its transfer from the NCP car park in Union Place, is now seeking shopkeepers' views.
Questions include: What improvements would you like to see and what impact has the market had on the number of visitors to your business and on sales figures?
Town centre manager Sharon Clarke said: "A number of the managers of the larger stores have given very positive feedback on the market and have reported increased footfall and sales.
"The proceeds from the market will be used to make enhancements to the town centre and we are investigating various projects at the moment.
"They include additional information boards on the seafront, up-lighting for trees, replacement directional signs for streets off the main thoroughfare and floral enhancements."
Mrs Clarke said there had been a disappointing take up of flower baskets to improve Worthing in Bloom this year and she urged traders to get in touch as soon as possible.
She also warned that West Sussex County Council would be checking in the near future to see that cafes and pubs with outside seating and tables had the correct insurance and licences.
Mrs Clarke said a gardeners' market would be held in Montague Place on Saturday, May 17, when Worthing in Bloom will be launched.
