The raging blaze of the West Pier brought a spooky chill to artist Karren Urben.
For her picture, The Fire Dance, which depicts a woman dancing in flames, is on a canvas which used to carry a picture of the luckless pier.
Karren, founder of the Patcham Artists Group in Brighton, painted over her previous work to free the canvas for a new picture.
This became The Fire Dance, one of a series of dance-inspired works by the professional artist.
During the Brighton Festival, the painting will be on display in The Argus foyer in Hollingbury and Karren, 41, then hopes to sell it to help the organisation trying to save the West Pier.
Karren, who lives in Patcham, said: "It was originally a painting of a figure in front of the West Pier. But a year ago I decided to paint over it."
Eventually The Fire Dance took shape but, months later when the pier caught fire, she remembered her previous painting.
Karren said: "It was weird, almost spooky."
Karren is one of many artists in Brighton holding open house shows of their work during the Brighton Festival.
She will be exhibiting at 11 Solway Avenue on Saturdays and Sundays until May 25 from 11am to 6pm.
Works are also on show at the Granville Hotel in King's Road, with ten per cent of sales going to the Sussex Beacon.
