Most people think accountancy is dull and boring but Tamsyn Williams thinks they have got it wrong.
Tamsyn, 23, from Rustington, studied accountancy with management at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, before joining accountant and business adviser KPMG.
She is currently working in the firm's assurance team, which carries out audits and investigations for local and national businesses.
She said: "I don't know why accountancy has such a bad reputation but it's even more interesting than I thought it would be. I spend my time going to different businesses and meeting lots of people. Most of the people I work with are under 30 years old and I haven't met anyone boring yet."
There are two phases of training to become a chartered accountant and Tamsyn has recently passed the first stage with flying colours.
She beat off competition from more than 4,000 other students to win joint first place and the order of merit in the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales' (ICAEW) professional stage examinations.
She will begin studying for the advanced stage in July and expects to take the examinations in November but will not be able to call herself a chartered accountant until she has completed three years of work experience.
