Plans to build four homes near Worthing seafront are set to go ahead.
Town planners approved an application to erect the two-bedroom terraced houses at Alfred Place, Worthing, at a recent meeting.
It will involve demolishing Ballamy's Garage, set in a row of houses in the Steyne Gardens Conservation Area.
No residents objected to the impact the homes would have on local amenities.
Consent was granted on the condition the developers made a contribution towards improving public transport in the area.
A council report said: "Although the garage has been on the site for a number of years and has historic interest, from an architectural point of view it does not appear to contribute to the overall character of the conservation area."
