This special matinee performance gave the audience the opportunity to see two of Paul Taylor's most accessible works and also a glimpse behind the scenes of a dance show.
Introduced by former Olympic ice skater and contemporary dance fan Robin Cousins, the show welcomed dozens of young people from local dance schools.
The atmosphere reflected the buzz of a new audience and the overall mood was fresh and exciting.
The first dance, Offenbach Overtures, was set to the rousing music of Jacques Offenbach.
Against a blazing red backdrop, the piece was as humorous as it was sparkling with energy.
Vibrant costumes and flaming passion kept even the youngest of minds focused and imaginations stoked.
An interval was optional. Those who chose to stay in the concert hall were treated to a set change.
The curtain was kept up and we got to see the quick change which happens during dances.
While the stage manager made vital adjustments, Cousins chatted on stage with a member of the company.
This proved both fascinating and enjoyable and even the youngest of dance fans stayed to listen.
The second piece, titled Promethean Fire, was stunning.
Involving the entire cast of 16 dancers and set to the music of Bach, it was both a moving piece and an incredible dance with ingenious choreography.
The costumes accentuated the visual splendour and made for a spectacular finale.
