MS Cook's letter about the boy who endangered his own life but abused the innocent party (June 12) is another example of the deterioration of society.

The new morality can be summed up by "never admit you're wrong".

Another recent example was that of the child cautioned by police for throwing stones at cars. The mother did not admit any wrongdoing; instead she criticised the police for having taken the action.

It seems "infringement of one's civil rights" can be used to excuse any activity, however antisocial.
