Sussex League: Roffey spinner Mark Jefferson took nine wickets but ended up on the losing side.

Jefferson, from New Zealand, returned outstanding figures of 9-69 as Cuckfield reached 235, thanks to the batting of Chris Mole (85).

But Cuckfield had a bowling hero of their own as Nick Patterson took 6-42 to send Roffey tumbling to 157 all out and defeat by 78 runs.

Lewes Priory top the second division following their fourth victory in six starts at Bexhill who are now bottom .

Sidley are just nine points adrift of the leaders after their third win of the campaign by 80 runs at home to Haywards Heath.

Bexhill looked to have set a challenging total of 207 all out against Lewes Priory after being put in to bat as Aussie Paul Lewis made 49, Richard Harrison 48 and Mark Roughley 39.

The pace bowling of Kashif Ibrahim was rewarded with figures of 5-62 and off-spinner Imran Khan took 3-35.

Lewes owed much to international hockey goalkeeper David Luckes who hit 84 as they moved purposely home at 208-5, Ibrahim made 34 not out and James Cruickshank 33. Acting skipper Matt Blackan was the pick of the Bexhill bowlers with 3-57.

Sidley rattled up 252-7 at home to Haywards Heath with Chris Deeprose (85) leading the way, while Jonathan Haffenden hit 62.

For the visitors, Mike Hogue, Paul Edmunds and Stuart Faith each took two wickets.

Heath were all out for 172, Charlie Dowdall making 42 and Ollie Cove 30 as Pakistani paceman Imran Javed took 4-67. There were two wickets each for Pete King, veteran Tyrone Wildman and Chris Deeprose.

Preston Nomads are starting to come good and it was the batting of veterans Chris Bidwell and Protap Dasgupta that helped them home by two wickets at Littlehampton.

The home side made 173 all out with Benn Challen making 87. The wickets all went to the sons of former county players, Nick Hobbs (5-29) and John Graves (5-50).

Bidwell (41), and Dasguta (39) saw Nomads home at 176-8 despite the efforts of Adam Tester (3-31).
