The managers are releasing an album and the guests are being invited to indulge their wildest fantasies in a room explicitly geared towards sex.

It seems the only people at the Hotel Pelirocco in Brighton not behaving in the grand old rock 'n' roll tradition are the rock 'n' rollers themselves.

Hotel managers Jane Slater and Mick Robinson have selected their favourite tracks for a Hotel Pelirocco album, featuring artists such as Dusty Springfield, Primal Scream and The Damned.

They are also preparing to unveil the latest addition to their themed rooms, which is named Nookii and is devoted to sex.

However, while many bands stay there while visiting Brighton, the days of turbulent stars throwing TVs and furniture from hotel windows appear to be over.

New York band The Strokes have been hailed by many for reviving the sleazy, stripped-down rock of Seventies acts such as Iggy Pop and The New York Dolls.

However, during several stays at the hotel in Regency Square, they have been on their best behaviour.

Mick said: "The Strokes did have an after-show party after their gig at The Loft but it was all pretty restrained.

"Rock stars all tend to be very well-behaved these days. They tend to be tucked up in bed quite early."

The hotel prides itself on its pop subculture ambience, with room themes including mods, punk, Skint Records and Asian Dub Foundation.

There are also rooms devoted to boxing legend Muhammad Ali and Fifties pin-up Betty Page.

Mick said: "We did the CD because this has always been a strong musically-oriented hotel. We have a lot of bands and DJs staying as guests.

"All the staff are really into music. We go to most of the gigs in Brighton and wanted to produce something that summed up the hotel's spirit."

Several tense meetings were needed to whittle down the final track listing, which also includes the likes of Kenny Rogers, Henry Mancini, The Bees, Dexy's Midnight Runners and The Small Faces.

The range of styles is intended to give a flavour of the hotel's varying moods.

Jane said: "Listening to the CD should be like 24 hours at Hotel Pelirocco. Wake up and have breakfast to the lush strings of Henry Mancini.

"Relax and reflect on Ahmad's Back In The Day. Drink a large bloody Mary to The Damned.

"Party again to Primal Scream and The Scissor Sisters. Then, off to bed and warm your cockles with Minnie Ripperton's Les Fleurs."

The CD will be on sale at the hotel and in selected stores and could be the first of a series if it sells well.

Artist Jamie Reid has designed the CD artwork.

He produced the artwork for the Sex Pistols in the Seventies, including the famous image of the Queen with a safety pin piercing her nose.

The Nookii room, aimed at couples wanting a "dirty weekend", features saucy toys and DVDs, champagne, scented rose petals, condoms and a "Kinkybed", which has cushions and iron shackles.
