Part of Brighton seafront is in line for a £1 million makeover.
Brighton and Hove City Council has agreed to spend £250,000 on the second phase of regenerating Madeira Drive.
Most of the money will be spent on providing a new children's area at Peter Pan's Playground.
The policy committee has also agreed to spend £250,000 on revamping the seafront from the bandstand to the Peace Statue.
This work includes renovating the historic and listed bandstand, improving open space and providing a new petanque piste.
Another £570,000 will be spent on projects including providing new toilets in Queen's Park and repairing lifts at the Brighton Centre.
Tory councillor Ann Norman said: "The regeneration of Madeira Drive is long overdue."
Opposition Tory leader Brian Oxley particularly welcomed the restoration of the bandstand, which has been disused for many years.
