Brighton and Hove are second ahead of East Grinstead and Horsham.

Richard Jackson (129) and Brad Smith (64) helped Hastings to 259-3 as left-arm spinner Jason Hoskins grabbed 2-45.

Chris Grammer (33) and Rob Wakeford (38) set Brighton up for victory and a rapid 33 not out from Neil Robinson saw them home at 153-5 from 36.2 overs.

Horsham made a massive 329-8 declared at Three Bridges.

Skipper Scott Stratton hit 101, which was his first league century in 11 seasons at Horsham, and Luke Marshall (67), Michael Bright (56) and Tim Dodd (64 not out) ensured a challenging target for the home side.

A valiant effort was ended with four balls remaining as the lower order collapsed against Bright's leg-spin. The 19-year-old Aussie took 6-50 in 15.2 overs and Marshall grabbed 2-66.

For Bridges, Krishana Singh made 82, skipper Danny Alderman 58 and Jibran Khan 41.

Youngsters Jack Hepburn (63) and Mark Tomsett (64) led the way to a 228 score against the bowling of Chris Mansell (7-77).

Worthing gave themselves every chance of winning as John Kay made 66 and Ben Shelford 55 but spinner Darren Cumming (7-51) made sure it was Eastbourne's day.

East Grinstead cracked 300-6 declared at home to Steyning and it proved beyond the early pacesetters as they reached 264-4 at stumps.
