Employers and education providers are coming together to look at the skills needed to create a prosperous and sustainable local economy.
An event which featuring speakers and workshops is being organised by the Brighton and Hove Learning Partnership.
Co-ordinator Rachel Fuller said: "There are significant skills gaps in the local economy. For example, with the large amount of building in Brighton and Hove in the next five years, including the King Alfred centre, the library and the Brighton Centre, there is going to be a greater need for skilled construction staff.
The event takes place at the University of Brighton on Thursday.
