HarleyGreen is breaking up from school early to go straight to university - despite being just 12 years old.
Harley, of Robinson Close, Lancing, is the only pupil in Sussex to be offered a place on a maths and science course at Warwick University's summer school for gifted children after making the grade with just 17 other under-13s nationwide.
Harley, who attends White Styles Middle School in White Styles Road, Sompting, has been sponsored by utility firm Transco and leaves for the three-week course on Saturday.
His father, Wayne Green, said: "Some time ago he took the test at the school. He passed the test for under 13s at just 11.
"He worked very hard and we are very pleased with it all. It's one of the leading universities in the UK. They go up for three weeks and meet other like-minded people.
"It's his first time away from home and he's looking forward to it.
"He's a fairly shy type of chap but we try to teach him as an everyday lad."
