Sussex fast bowler James Kirtley hopes it will be a case of third time lucky after he retained his place in the England squad for the first Test against South Africa next week.
Kirtley was left out of the team for the two Tests against Zimbabwe earlier this summer, but with Somerset's Richard Johnson unfit he was included in a 12-man squad named this morning.
Meanwhile, Kirtley's Sussex team-mate Robin Martin-Jenkins took two wickets in successive overs as the county pressed for victory over Leicestershire on the final day of the Championship match at Grace Road today.
Martin-Jenkins had first innings centurion Phil DeFreitas caught at cover off a checked drive before David Masters bagged a pair when he was caught behind after Martin-Jenkins surprised him with extra bounce.
Mushtaq Ahmed had earlier claimed his ninth wicket of the match and 64th of the season when he ended a stubborn sixth wicket stand of 63 between Trevor Ward and Jeremy Snape by having Ward caught at silly point after he had made his first half-century of the season.
Masters' dismissal left Leicestershire 234-8, a lead of 138.
