Bobby Zamora will score more goals than ever when he steps up into the Premiership.

That is the verdict of Tottenham boss Glenn Hoddle after the former Albion striker completed his £1.5 million move on Friday.

Hoddle has tracked Zamora, who scored 83 goals in 136 Albion games, for the past 18 months.

He has got his man on a three-year deal with the option of another three years.

Speaking as Zamora was introduced at White Hart Lane, Hoddle said: "Bobby has got a great all round game and is a clever player.

"He has pace and movement which is ideal for us because we will have players like that alongside him.

"I believe he will get more chances created for him than when he was down at Brighton."

Hoddle confessed it had been a long haul to get the striker first recommended to him by former Albion manager and Spurs winger Peter Taylor.

He added: "Bobby gives us options up front and I am delighted my efforts have proved fruitful in getting him.

"I am going to miss that drive down to Brighton. It's lovely down there."

He joked: "Maybe I'll have to look at someone else from Brighton!"

Hoddle was impressed with Zamora's elevation to the England under-21 set-up.

He said: "He proved he can make the step up. He played pretty much on his own and out wide for Brighton so he has certainly added a few strings to his bow."

Hoddle admitted he had a bargain at £1.5 million in a transfer market about to be inflated by the arrival on the scene of new Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.

He said: "I guess you could say I got in at the right time and I'm rather pleased I have done."

Zamora, 22, joins Helder Postiga, 20, and Robbie Keane, 23, as Hoddle freshens up a squad that has been packed with players aged 30 or more. The Spurs boss added: "I rather like the look of those three and I'm hopeful they can do a job for Spurs."

Hoddle revealed how Taylor marked his card on Zamora.

He said: "Peter spoke very highly of him when he was in charge of Brighton and told me he thought he had the talent to play in the Premiership."

Albion have signed Charlton goalkeeper Ben Roberts on a two-year deal. Roberts, who was on loan at the club last season, plays in the all-ticket friendly at Crawley on Saturday.
