Lewes MP Norman Baker has developed a novel way of taking politics to the people - on a constituency in a bus.

The Liberal Democrat said he would hold a string of surgery meetings in the "Baker Bus" on July 23 and 24.

He said: "The surgery bus will give those constituents who might have otherwise have found it difficult to come to a regular surgery the chance to speak to me.

"I welcome anyone who has an issue, problem or grievance to discuss with me - all they have to do is wait for the bus at the right stop."

The "bus stops" on July 23 are: noon,Falmer (Village Pond); 12.30pm, Kingston (Village Hall); 1.15pm, Rodmell (Village Hall); 2pm, Piddinghoe (Old Post Office);2.45pm, South Heighton (Post Office); 3.30pm, Alfriston (Market Cross); 4.15pm, Wilmington (Crossroads); 4.45pm, Berwick (Station Car Park); 5.15pm, Selmeston (Village Hall); 5.45pm,Firle (Post Office); 6.15pm, Glynde (Recreation Ground).

On July 24 it will visit:9am, Cooksbridge (Station); 9.45am, Ditchling (Village Hall Car Park); 10.15am, Wivelsfield (Village Hall Car Park); 10.45am Plumpton (Village Stores); 11.30am,Chailey (Village Shop); 12.15pm, Newick (Village Hall); 1pm, Barcombe (Village Stores); 1.45pm, Ringmer (Village Hall); 2.30pm, Laughton (Village Stores); 3pm, Ripe(Lamb Public House); 3.30pm, Upper Dicker (Village Stores).

Mr Baker added: "The running times for the bus are approximate to allow for traffic and I hope to speak to as many people as possible at each stop."
