The National Trust may start selling food under its own name.
Produce from the trust's tenant farmers could appear in shops under its own brand.
Some 2,000 tenants farm almost 90 per cent of the trust's land in England, Wales and Ireland.
Rob Macklin, the trust's head of agriculture, said products could be marketed more widely in future, using a common logo to make them easy for shoppers to spot.
