A schoolboy armed himself with a flick-knife to deal drugs at a Brighton nightclub.
The boy aged 14 was stopped by bouncers outside the end-of-term party for teenagers at the Event II in West Street.
Security staff were stunned when they searched him.
Stuffed down his trousers were wraps of cannabis resin and herbal cannabis with a street value of several hundred pounds.
Staff also discovered a deadly stiletto knife with a ten-inch blade.
They called police and the boy was taken in a patrol car to a cells in Hollingbury, Brighton.
He was being questioned today on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply.
One officer said: "He had a large quantity of drugs hidden around his groin area. I can't recall coming across a dealer that young before - especially one armed with such a dangerous weapon."
Staff at the club said the young teenager remained calm throughout the search and co-operated fully.
One said: "He was as hard as nails.
"There were bags full of drugs down his trousers. We couldn't believe our eyes."
More than 1,400 youngsters aged between 14 and 17 were at the venue last night for a club culture evening where only soft drinks were on sale.
Thirty door stewards were on duty and about nine searched guests for alcohol and drugs before they were allowed to enter.
It was during one such search outside the club doors that the drugs and knife were discovered.
Tony Buck, club manager, said: "Our staff are extremely well trained and do a very good job to ensure young people enjoy themselves and have a trouble-free evening.
"They did very well last night and apart from that one incident the evening went very well. Everyone there enjoyed themselves."
Luminar Leisure, which owns Event II, is running nationally-sponsored club culture evenings for under-18s to coincide with school breaks and holidays.
