Organisers didn't think they could top last year's event but they did.

The six-hour fund raiser for Martlets Hospice, in memory of local sound engineer Dave Room, raised more than £2,000 and rocked The Portland.

Some of Brighton's finest bands donated their talents and played with a passion that was infectious.

Gough, Tempest And Lockwood kicked off the gig with a set of progressive rock. Next up were The Informers playing acoustic blues covers followed by Phil Nash, who served up some great rock covers. Rhythm and blues masters The Blackjacks were pure quality.

As ever, the Brighton Beach Boys got everyone grooving to surf-pop classics. Nine-piece band The Soul Review kept the audience on their feet.

The night finished on a high courtesy of the brilliant Lenna And The Snakemen who reformed especially for the gig.

The atmosphere was incredible, the bands brilliant and everyone dug deep to raise thousands for the Hove hospice. The memory of Dave lived on through every song and cheer.
